TheCollegeof Fine Artswas founded in 1993, with a history of 30 years. There are 104 faculty members, including 12 professors, 27 associate professors and 21 doctors. Besides, there are over 1,700 undergraduates, postgraduates and international students. As one of the earliest art colleges with two first-level disciplines (Fine Artsand Design), the College has set up two professional master’s degree programs, Art and Design,and Art Education. The disciplineof Fine Arts has been successively rated as municipal-level key discipline during the “13th Five-Year Plan” and the “14th Five-Year Plan”. The College has 6 undergraduate programs, including Environmental Design, Visual Communication Design, Fashion and Clothing Design, Product Design, Fine Arts, and Painting which has been approvedasChongqing Municipal First-class Undergraduate Program. In addition, the course ofCultural and CreativeDesign has been listed as the First-class Course in Chongqing, while the course of Chinese andForeignClothingHistory won first prize in the Municipal Teaching Innovation Competition. The College has also set up a number of academic platforms, scientific research institutions, well-equipped training centers and art space, including theChongqingJointTrainingBase for Postgraduates, theInstitute of Fine Arts Creation with Major Historical Themes, and the Southwest Folk Art Research Institute.
TheCollegeof Fine Arts adheres to the philosophy of “humanities, academics, creativity, optimism and beauty”, and strives to construct “a high-levelFineArtsCollege in western China that boasts distinctive features ofa normal university, advantages in disciplines, highlights in humanities and broad influence of majors”. By taking advantage of the opportunities of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the construction of Western (Chongqing) Science City, and keeping abreast with the pace of Chongqing Normal University in building a high-level demonstration normal university, the College will coordinate the development of undergraduate and postgraduate education in line with its own disciplinary advantages and professional characteristics, cultivate innovative and practical talents of fine arts education, fine arts creation and art design with strong professional ability, profound cultural accomplishment and refined aesthetic taste, so as to inherit and make innovations inthefine Chinese culture and ultimately serve local economic and cultural development.
